Faking Lead 2: More Dark Troopers in 54mm and War Toys of The Galactic Toyshop …

“It’s just a toy.”

“It’s a lot more than that.”

Obi Wan (Ben) Kenobi to Lars Owen, Star Wars: Obi Wan Kenobi

More battered former Star Wars storm troopers, 54mm plastic figures repainted as playworn lead dark troopers for my not quite canon Sci Fi world of Close Little Space Wars.

Battle-scarred and play-worn Dark Trooper 54mm metal figures of The Imperious Empyre with some original packaging, seen amongst the many other Toy treasures of the Museum Of Galactic Childhood on the planet of Corusgurrl (Image from their holo-cast website)

Close Little Space Wars is my fusion of grandfather of modern gaming and Science Fiction pioneer H.G. Wells’ book Little Wars, Donald Featherstone’s ‘Close Wars’ rules (appendix to War Games) and a range of Sci-Fi including of course George Lucas’ Star Wars.

Close Little Space Wars: “a game played throughout the Galaxy for boys from seven years of age to one hundred and fifty played and for that the more intelligent sort of girl who likes boys’ games and books, and for the more intelligent forms of life, extraterrestrials and aliens etc …”

So these play-worn Toy figures are the Heroes and Victors for Imperial children

and ‘Enemy troops’ (and Baddies) for children of the Rebellyon (the Goodies).

Likewise Rebellyon or Alliance troops would be listed as “Types Of Rebel Scum” by Imperial toy makers, making toys for the children of The Empyre and collectors serving with The Imperious Empyre forces.

Hopefully old Airfix or current Revell Star Wars kits are available by post in all star systems …

Sadly none of them 1:32 or 54mm scale.

It was an interesting idea from comments by Death Zap! The Wargames Pastor that these battered figures are in fact battered old metal toys played with by younglings within the Universe or Yarden or Galaxy (far far away, yah de yah de yah …) wherever are our games are set.

On this unnamed paint technique, mimicking old worn lead with paint on plastic figures, Wargaming Pastor said:

These battered toy troopers would be the familiar collectibles, the playthings of young children in Empyre or Rebel families,

Types of The Imperial Empyre (TIE Fighters)

or boxes of Types of The Imperial Army / Forces on … William Britain’s style?

All part of the Rebel or Empyre Imperial propaganda … (all the fun of the online fan art!)

More Dark Troopers and Storm Troopers

Spotting space toys in the Star Wars universe in these films is a thread or topic developed further on Quora forums:

1. “Stormie” the Trooper doll is mentioned here on the cleverly named Wookiepedia site: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Stormie

In true cult merchandising fashion, Stormie has already been cloned for sale …

2. As has the rebel pilot rag doll belonging to scavenger heroine Rey in the last trilogy of films VII VIII IX

https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Alliance_pilot_doll

3. And a T16 skyhopper spaceship model that Obi Wan Kenobi buys from the Jawa scavengers or repairs as a gift for young ‘orphan’ Luke, who is being hidden away and cared for by Uncle Owen Lars and Aunt Baru in the obscurity of a moisture farm on desert planet Tattoine …

Beware the toys your children play with … these younglings must be the equivalent to the kits and figures that our post WW2 Britain’s and Airfix generation grew up with.

Suitable Image Caption? Close Little Space Wars: “a game played throughout the Galaxy for boys from seven years of age to one hundred and fifty played and for that mor intelligent sort of girls who likes boys’ games and books, and for the more intelligent forms of life, extraterrestrials and aliens etc …”

Rules (below) as used in my Battle Report. Warning: contains unpainted space miniatures whose uncoloured existence some may find offensive.
